KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh today congratulated tenpin bowler Sin Li Jane for winning the US Women's Open yesterday.

Yeoh said it was a historic feat by the 32-year-old who defeated Latvia's second seed Dania Zavjalova 226-214 in a one-game final at Royal Pin Woodland in Indianapolis, Indiana.

"Congratulations! Amazing achievement by Li Jane who made history by winning the US Women's Open," said Yeoh on social media.

"Li Jane is the first Malaysian and Southeast Asian to win it."

The win, which was Li Jane's third title this season, pocketed her her US$60,000 (RM283,000).

The previous best achievement by a Malaysian bowler in the tournament was Shalin Zulkifli who finished third in 2008.
