Red Giants eager to prove themselves in MSC final

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants will be out to do the nation proud when they take on Falcons AP.Bren in the final of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup (MSC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, tonight.

The Red Giants have already etched their names in the history books by becoming the first Malaysian side to reach the final of an international MLBB tournament at MSC.

They secured their berth in the final after defeating NIP Flash (Singapore) 3-0 in the semi-finals last night.

NIP Flash had earlier in the quarterfinals defeated HomeBois 3-2, the latter are also a Malaysian side.

Red Giants coach Michael Angelo Bocado, better known by his nickname Arcadia, is expecting a tough fight against AP.Bren, who won the M5 world championship title in December.

Red Giants are on a hot streak at the moment. They did not lose a single match en route to winning the MPL Malaysia title this year and were also unbeaten in the group stage of MSC.

"I know they (AP.Bren) will be tough opponents as they are the defending (current) world champions," said Arcadia after the match against NIP Flash.

"We are confident going into this match and will make sure we do everything we can to win. We will show the world that we can fight as well.

"We are not thinking too much about our winning streak, it gives us some momentum but we are not pressured by it.

"Personally, I am also excited as this could be my first time becoming an international champion. We are hoping for a good day."

AP.Bren had defeated See You Soon (Cambodia) 3-0 in the quarterfinals and Liquid Echo (Netherlands) 3-1 in the semi-finals to secure their place in the final.

MSC, which is part of the Esports World Cup line-up, offers a lucrative US$3 million (RM14.1 million) prize purse.
