Sekysss hungry for more after historic MSC win, will save his slice of RM4.66 million prize money

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants star Haqqullah Ahmad Shahrul Zaman is keen to keep the momentum going after helping his team win the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup (MSC) in Riyadh yesterday.

It was a historic win for Red Giants as it made them the first Malaysian side to win a major international MLBB title.

Haqullah, better known by his nickname Sekysss, is keen to keep working hard especially as the semi-finals and final of M6 World Championships are set to be held at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil at the end of the year.

"I think if we do not get comfortable or complacent we will be able to carry our momentum into the upcoming competitions," said Sekysss yesterday.

"We just have to maintain our routine, keep training and working hard.

"When we go back to Malaysia we will have a break for a few days and after that will get back on track.

"We still have other tournaments to play after this and will continue to focus. We will give our best. Although this (MSC) is a big tournament, I am still not satisfied."

Red Giants upset current world champions Falcons AP.Bren (Philippines) 4-3 in a nail biting final at MSC.

Sekysss, who was named the most valuable player in the grand finals, admitted it took some time for the win to sink in.

"We went blank for a few seconds, then it hit us, we are the champions," he added.

"For me personally, it felt like a dream. I asked myself was I still sleeping? But after we lifted the trophy, it felt great, we deserved it."

Red Giants pocketed a mouth watering US$1 million (RM4.66 million) for the win while AP.Bren took home US$500,000 (RM2.33 million) for their efforts.

MSC, which is part of the Esports World Cup line-up, offered a lucrative US$3 million (RM14.1 million) prize purse.

Sekysss, 18, is not going to squander his cut of the prize money.

"I want to focus on saving (money) first because I am still young," said Sekysss.

"I don't have any plans to buy a car or any other necessities yet."

Red Giants are expected to compete in the Snapdragon Pro Series challenge finals next which will be held on July 28-Aug 4 in Kuala Lumpur.
