Unbeaten Red Giants and HomeBois advance at Mid Season Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants and HomeBois have kept the Malaysian flag flying at the ongoing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup (MSC) in Riyadh.

Red Giants - this year's MPL Malaysia champions - topped group B after notching two wins and a draw.

They defeated Team Falcons (Saudi Arabia) 2-0 and drew with Fnatic Onic (Indonesia) 1-1 yesterday.

Earlier this week, Red Giants were awarded a 2-0 win over See You Soon (Cambodia) after the latter were found to have infringed on tournament rules during the match.

Red Giants coach Michael Angelo Bocado, better known by his nickname Arcadia, was pleased with his charges' execution in their final group match against Onic.

"Onic are a strong team and I believe we were just able to execute our game plan and drafts better, which allowed us to secure the points we needed," said Arcadia.

HomeBois secured their spot in the knockout stage after finishing runners-up to Liquid Echo (Netherlands) in Group B.

They lost their opening match to Echo 2-0, but bounced back with wins, both 2-0, over Twisted Minds (Saudi Arabia) and Team Spirit (Serbia).

HomeBois, who finished runners-up to Red Giants in MPL Malaysia this year, won the wildcard qualifying tournament for MSC last week.

The draw for the quarterfinals will be held tonight following the conclusion of the group stage matches for group D.

MSC, which is part of the Esports World Cup line-up, offers a lucrative US$3 million prize purse.
