KUALA LUMPUR: Xin Ying Yee returned from an eight-month break due to injury to win the ACE Challenger 6k second leg at Petronas Golf and Recreation Club in Kerteh, Terengganu, today.
The eighth seed upset third seed K. Sehveetrraa 11-8, 11-3, 11-8 in the final in 26 minutes.
Ying Yee, 20, said: "We know each other's game well as we have been training together (in the national team) for a few years.
"Really good to win a title since I last won a title a while ago," said Ying Yee who won the Greenwich Open and Burnt Open in Connecticut last October.
In the men's competition, national No. 4 and top seed Syafiq Kamal's hopes of winning his first title this year were dashed by Egypt's fourth seed Yassin Shohdy. Yassin won the final 11-4, 11-8, 11-7 in 34 minutes.
