KUCHING: Selangor swimmer Andrew Goh broke the national record in the men's 50m breaststroke twice at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatics Centre today.
In the morning heats he set a time of 28.03s to break his own national record of 28.10s set at last year's Malaysia Open.
He returned to the pool in the afternoon and further lowered that mark by posting 27.40s to claim gold in the final
Melaka's Joseph Kai (29.32s) won silver and Sarawak's Hector Ho (29.67s) completed the podium.
The Federal Territories' (FT) Dhuha Zulfikry got in on the record breaking act by setting a new Malaysia Games (Sukma) record in the 1,500m freestyle.
His time of 15:51.53s broke Vernon Lee's record of 15:53.67s set in 2012.
Selangor's Henry Goh (16:23.83s) won silver and Anselm Lee (16:31.41s) took bronze.
Then it was FT's Isabelle Chiyi Buckley's turn to break her own Sukma record by posting a time of 32.76s to claim gold and better the time she set in the morning prelims of 32.83s.
Johor's Alicia Li (33.10s) won silver and Selangor' Low Ee Mang (33.68s) won bronze.
