KUALA LUMPUR: Teenager M. Nickhleswar's hopes of winning his second squash title in Manila did not materialise today.
The 16-year-old from Penang, who bagged the PSA Satellite in Manila last week, lost to Japan's world No. 156 and top seed Tomo Endo in the Philippines Challenge Classic final.
World No. 403 Nickhileswar won the first set 11-7 but could not maintain his game and lost the next three 11-6, 11-5, 11-4 in 42 minutes.
The Asian Under-17 champion said that playing two five-setters in the quarter-finals and semi-finals took a toll on him.
"I am a bit upset about losing in the final. But credit to Tomo as he played well.
"But overall, I am happy with my performance as I didn't expect to go this far by upsetting a few players who were ranked much higher than me."
