KUALA LUMPUR: Second seed Ng Eain Yow advanced to his third final of the season at the US$64,000 Malaysia Cup by defeating world No. 58 Abhay Singh of India at Curve Mall, Petaling Jaya, today.
World No. 14 Eain Yow recorded an 11-5, 11-4, 7-11, 11-4 victory to set up a showdown against top seed Youssef Soliman of Egypt in tomorrow's final.
Soliman, the runner-up at last month's Silicon Valley Open in California, overcame compatriot Youssef Ibrahim in a gruelling five-game semi-final, winning 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6 after 95 minutes.
Asian champion Eain Yow, who has already captured the German Open title and finished runner-up at the QSF Open in Doha this season, will start as the underdog against Soliman, having lost to him twice previously.
The 26-year-old Eain Yow, a semi-finalist in last year's tournament, hopes Soliman's exhausting semi-final match will work to his advantage.
"However, he is also physically a very fit player, and I have to be at my best tomorrow," said Eain Yow.
"I am the second seed, so the pressure is on Soliman as the top seed. But I'll be focusing on my game, and I know I'm capable of winning the title."
