PUTRAJAYA: Legion Esports pulled off a huge upset in Group B of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M6 World Championships wildcard stage by stunning fancied RRQ Akira today.
The Vietnamese team swept aside the Brazilians 2-0 at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre in Putrajaya to keep alive their chances of reaching the M6's main show.
However, Legion coach Arkar "Sabo" Phyo Min was not completely happy with their performance as their main goal is to enter the Swiss stage.
To do that, they need to beat The MongolZ from Mongolia and hope RRQ Akira do them a favour by defeating Russia's Insilio tomorrow.
If Legion and Insilio win tomorrow, the Russians will advance to Sunday's wildcard grand final.
"It is up to us to defeat The Mongolz, the rest is up to God," said Phyo Min.
Jungler Nguyen Van "Jowga" To Do believes that following their performance against RRQ Akira, they have a good chance of defeating The MongolZ.
"This win against RRQ Akira has boosted our confidence. I believe we have a good chance of defeating The MongolZ in our final group match," he said.
Earlier today, Insilio defeated The MongolZ to preserve their undefeated record in the group stage.
The MongolZ are out of contention, having lost all of their games so far in the wildcard group stage.
