Anthony plays the 'father' or 'big brother' in FNOPH team

KUALA LUMPUR: "Family bond" is what makes team Fnatic ONIC Philippines (FNOPH) click in their quest at the M6 World Championships which begin with the Swiss stage on Thursday.

At the head of this family is head coach Anthony "YnoT" Senedrin who sometimes is the "father" of the group, sometimes the "big brother".

He said that this bond creates a light mood in the team's camp especially during boot camp for the M6.

The players act like siblings who sometimes bicker with each other but never in a negative manner.

"They don't hesitate to tell each other of their mistakes and at the same time accept criticism.

"But apart from that, it's about boosting each other's confidence so it makes me happy that the culture I envisioned way before we started is something that they have embraced and cherish.

"I guess this relationship also comes from the culture in the Philippines where we are known for having that family bond, regardless of what age you are, the respect is there," said the 36-year-old yesterday.

The Filipino champions have been dealt a difficult hand in the first round of the Swiss stage after being drawn to face Indonesian champions Team Liquid ID at the IOI Grand Exhibition & Convention Centre in Putrajaya.

But Anthony is not afraid of the challenge that the Indonesians pose as to be crowned World Champions, you have to beat the best.

"I'm hyped to face Team Liquid. To be honest, it does not matter if it's day one or the last day, you need to beat the best to be the best.

"What matters most is when we get on stage, the trust, discipline has to be there. Everything that we have worked on we need to execute regardless of who our opponents are.

"We just need to make sure that a certain level of respect and trust in each other is there and we make each other feel it," Anthony added.
