PUTRAJAYA: A bad day for Malaysian teams got worse after Vamos were upstaged by Saudi Arabia's Twisted Minds at the Swiss stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M6 World Championship at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre today.
Vamos were expected to beat the Saudis, having outplayed
Twisted Minds twice at the Mid Season Cup and Games of the Future earlier this year when most of the roster were playing under the Homebois banner.
However, the Saudis turned the tables on the Malaysians by ending the match in 19 minutes for a 1-0 victory.
Earlier in the day, Malaysia's top team, Selangor Red Giants were upset 1-0 by Turkiye's S2G.
Vamos coach Khairul Azman "Pabz" Sharif admitted that the defeat was a big blow.
"Our gameplan went well but our play was messy. For example in a build-up to a team war, we would lose a team member.
"So, little things like that hindered us from getting the victory," said Khairul.
He added that Twisted Minds were really prepared for everything that they wanted to do, from the hero draft to the gameplay.
Twisted Minds coach Hendrich "Lyrick" Clahi, said his team were very motivated to defeat Vamos to avenge their previous losses to them.
"They beat us at Games of the Future and MSC, so I think today we're more eager to get the win.
"That hunger really helped us and through the experience of playing them often, we know what their moves were going to be," said the Filipino coach.
This defeat dropped Vamos to the 0-1 bracket, while Twisted Minds entered the 1-0 bracket.
