PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian sides Team Vamos and Selangor Red Giants (SRG) had luck on their side as they dodged meeting each other in the next round of the ongoing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship.
Both teams have struggled for form in the swiss stage of the competition so far - held at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre - and could have faced each other in Wednesday's matches (Dec 4) after falling to the 1-2 bracket.
But the draw held tonight (Dec 1), conducted by Geek Fam Indonesia's Allen Jedric "Baloyskie" O, saw Vamos drawn against Turkiye's S2G while SRG will square up against China's KeepBest Gaming (KBG).
Vamos need to watch out for S2G as they defeated SRG in the opening match of the Swiss stage earlier this week.
KBG had to defeat Latin American representatives Maycam Evolve to stay alive in the competition after losing to Indonesian teams RRQ Hoshi and Team Liquid ID.
The other match in the 1-2 bracket will be a blockbuster clash between Aurora from the Philippines and Team Liquid Indonesia.
All of Vamos' and SRG's matches so far have been in a best-of-one format and both teams have struggled to achieve consistent results.
They should have more margin for error from here on as their following matches will be in the best-of-three format.
Vamos coach Khairul Azman "Pabz" Sharif, however, said that the change of format does not guarantee they will do well.
"I'm not going to say Vamos is better in best-of-three matches, but I believe if we lose the first game we can rectify our mistakes and win the second and third games," he said.
On Thursday (Nov 28), SRG lost to S2G while Vamos went down to Saudi Arabia's Twisted Minds, which were both upsets.
They both rebounded on Friday with SRG defeating another Turkish team, ULFHEDNAR, and Vamos winning against Maycam Evolve.
However, SRG suffered another shocking defeat to Myanmar's Falcon Esport yesterday (Nov 29) and Vamos were bested by Cambodia's CFU Gaming earlier today.
