KUALA LUMPUR: Christian Didier Chin earned a breakthrough by winning the boys' singles and doubles events at the ITF Terengganu International Junior Tennis Championships (Grade Four) in Padang Hiliran today.
The second seed overcame unseeded Mitsui Shunsuke of Japan 6-2, 6-4 for the singles crown.
In the doubles final, Christian and India's S. Karan recorded an effortless 6-2, 6-3 win over Taiwan's Chen Yu Feng-Lin Han Chih.
"I played good tennis throughout the week. I hope to build from this," said Christian, who is ranked World No 241 in the ITF junior rankings.
Christian is the first Malaysian to take the singles and doubles crowns in recent times in an international event.
The 17-year-old is now hoping to get selected for the KL Sea Games in August.
In the girls' category, Sara Nayar was Malaysia's best performer by reaching the singles semi-finals.
