JAKARTA: An Indonesian man killed his neighbour when he couldn't stand being bombarded by questions about why he wasn't married, reports the 'Straits Times'.
Indonesian media reported that the incident happened in Tapanuli Selatan, northern Sumatra, on July 29.
Regional Assistant Commissioner of Police Maria Marpaung said the 45-year-old male suspect was accused of killing his neighbour, a 60-year-old public servant named Asgim Irianto, after being annoyed by the latter's frequent questions about his marital status.
"Asgim's wife said the attacker, Parlindungan Siregar, went to their house about 8pm brandishing a piece of wood and attacked Asgim without warning.
"Asgim ran out into the street where he was chased by Parlindungan and struck on the head and beaten by the suspect.
"Residents stopped the attack and took Asgim to hospital, but he died before he could receive treatment."
Maria said the suspect claimed he wanted to beat Asgim to death due to his neighbour's constant inquiries about why he was not married.
The report said that prior to the attack, the two men had also argued about their chickens.
