Late Nabil's mother expresses frustration with condo management over malfunctioning lift

KUALA LUMPUR: The mother of the late singer Nabil Zamanhuri, Fatimah Abdullah, expressed her frustration with her condominium management after her son had to be carried in a blanket, used as a makeshift hammock while experiencing a cardiac arrest.

She said the condominium's service lift which had malfunctioned hindered the emergency response on the day of the incident.

Nabil, whose full name is Nabil Zafril Zamanhuri, resided near Taman Bukit Indah in Ampang and passed away at Ampang Hospital on May 26.

Fatimah said the 12-storey building has two elevators, one of which is a service elevator.

She said the paramedics were not able to bring the stretcher to her unit on the ninth floor as the service elevator was out of service.

"To make things worse, the ambulance was parked very far away from the building due to the building's structural condition.

"My son was carried down using our blanket as a hammock, but it was heartbreaking because he was fighting for his life, and every second counts.

"When we got down, he was pushed on the stretcher along a rough pavement for several hundred metres to the front gate where the ambulance parked.

"I have been paying management fees without fail. So the management should look into this matter seriously," she said.

Fatimah demanded immediate action to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

She said the management must ensure that the service lift is always in working order and well maintained.

"The management should have a hotline number on standby for emergency calls near the security and building manager.

"These calls must be answered and attended to even in the middle of the night," she added.

The late Nabil was actively involved in acting, appearing in films and dramas such as Terbaik dari Langit, Aladdin, Ijab Kabut, BoBoiBoy Movie 2 and Kamelia Katrina.

He leaves behind a wife, Adelia Citra Hapsari, and two daughters.
