GEORGE TOWN: Fire broke out at a workers’ quarters located on the site of the former Penang International Sports Arena (Pisa) in Bayan Lepas last night.
In the 10pm incident, eight containers were razed on the one acre site, nearly spreading to some 40 other containers as well.
A Penang Fire and Rescue Department official who was contacted said the fire was put out in an hour.
No one was reported to be hurt.
An underground convention centre is being built on the site and is expected to be completed in a few years.
