Police nab four goat thieves during Ops Krismas

KOTA BELUD: Police arrested four men on suspicion of selling stolen goats during a special operation dubbed Ops Krismas at Kampung Tempasuk here, yesterday.

In the 12pm incident, two of the suspects attempted to escape in a car but failed when it skidded.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said prior to the arrest, the four, aged between 30 and 56, were negotiating with a customer on the price of the goats.

"They had handed over three goats believed to have been stolen. When they noticed police presence, they tried to escape in two cars.

"Police gave chase and managed to intercept one of the cars, while the other skidded near Kampung Sembirai," he added.

Based on investigations, Zaidi noted that the group was responsible in three thefts, involving cows and gas cylinders, as well as housebreaking in the district since 2018.

"We have seized the cars, three handphones, and goats," he added.
