KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has replaced more than 236,800 units of the Takata driver front airbag inflator in affected vehicles which translates to a 90 per cent completion ratio as at September 20.
In a statement today, it said the total number of Takata driver and passenger front airbag inflators replaced was more than 496,400 units.
Affected Honda customers who had yet to send their vehicles in for the replacements should do so urgently for their own safety as the airbags may deploy with excessive internal pressure when activated.
“The airbag inflator casing might rupture which may result in injury or fatality of the driver and passenger,” it said.
Honda Malaysia said the cost of replacing the airbag inflators would be borne by Honda Malaysia.
“We affirm that our current line-up of Honda models do not have the same type of Takata airbag inflators as previous models affected in the recall,” it added.
