KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Mohd Kenali as its president and group chief executive officer (GCEO) effective from November 1.
In an exchange filing today, UMW said Ahmad Fuaad's appointment would cease Azmin Che Yusoff's role as acting GCEO on November 1.
UMW said Azmin, 62, would assume his position as chief operating officer of corporate division.
Azmin had resumed service as COO to facilitate the execution of selected special projects and key initiatives under the group's transformation agenda on April 1.
On June 5, Azmin was appointed acting president and GCEO due to the passing of the late Badrul Feisal Abdul Rahim, the former president and GCEO.
Last Friday, Malakoff announced Ahmad Fuaad's resignation as CEO effective from October 31.
During his tenure in Malakoff, Ahmad Fuaad, 50, was on the board of most of its local and overseas subsidiaries and associate companies.
Ahmad Fuaad was Proton Holdings Bhd CEO from April 1, 2016 and its board member until September 30, 2017.
Prior to his appointment in Proton, he was DRB-HICOM Bhd chief operating officer (finance and corporate) and chief financial officer (CFO) from August 2013 to March 2016.
He began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co in 1994.
In 2001, he left practice to take up the position of executive director of finance at Petaling Garden Bhd.
In 2008, he re-joined practice as a partner/executive director in Ernst & Young, Kuala Lumpur and was with the firm until 2010 when he joined Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd as CFO from August 2010 to July 2013.
