Citi Malaysia appoints Vikram Singh as new CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Citi Malaysia has appointed Vikram Singh as its chief executive officer, effective May 1 this year.

The bank said Vikram would be responsible for leading the country team of the Malaysia franchise, leveraging Citi's global strengths and further enhancing Citi's position as a leading bank and employer of choice.

He will also have oversight of the Citi Solutions Centers in Malaysia and report directly to Citi South Asia and Asean head Amol Gupte.

"Malaysia is a key market for Citi and has a strong institutional franchise.

"Vikram's long career and experience with the firm will be invaluable in leading the next stage of growth in a market that also supports many of our global businesses and functions," Gupte said in a statement today.

Vikram joined Citi in 1999 and brings 24 years of corporate banking experience managing 18 markets in Asia Pacific.

He has held various leadership roles in India and the Philippines, covering corporate and investment banking.

His most recent role with Citi was as head of Asia Pacific Regional Account Management, Global Subsidiaries Group in Singapore.

Additionally, during his role as head of corporate and investment banking in the Philippines from 2016 to 2021, Vikram accomplished double-digit revenue growth by devising and deploying robust business strategies.

Citi has been in Malaysia since 1959 and has a workforce of close to 4,000 employees.
