Sime Darby Property, LOGOS signs J&T as their first tenant for Metrohub 2

KUALA LUMPUR:  Sime Darby Property Bhd and LOGOS SE Asia Pte Ltd's joint venture - SDPLOG - has signed J&T Distribution Solutions Sdn Bhd (J&T) as its first tenant for Metrohub 2, within the E-Metro Logistics Park in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, Selangor.

J&T and SDPLOG entered into a lease arrangement for J&T to occupy roughly 21 per cent of the property, with an option to increase that to 23 per cent.

According to Datuk Azmir Merican, group managing director of Sime Darby Property, the joint venture will enable J&T to better serve domestic and foreign clients looking to expand their businesses.

"We achieve this by harnessing the full potential of our high-quality logistics real estate assets, which provide integrated solutions and world-class facilities.

"We are pleased that J&T, our first tenant, has recognised the strategic value of the E-Metro Logistics Park and has chosen to broaden their warehousing and logistics requirements through our valued partnership," he said in a statement.

J&T Express Malaysia chief executive officer and distribution solutions director Roy Zeng said that the logistics company chose E-Metro Logistics Park due to its strategic position and connectivity to roads, seaports, and airports.

The facility is also designed so that we can optimise our operations. Having worked with LOGOS in our previous facility, we are confident in our decision," Zeng added.

The E-Metro Logistics Park, located within Sime Darby Property's township of Bandar Bukit Raja, is a 177-acre freehold logistics development that will be transformed into a sustainable, large-scale, integrated logistics park totalling 8 million sq ft of Gross Lettable Area (GLA) when completed.

LOGOS head of Malaysia, David Aboud said there is a strong demand for modern logistics facilities at a strategic location such as Bandar Bukit Raja.

"The demand is focused on well-specified warehouses and sustainability credentials. We continue to field enquiries for more than four million sq ft of logistics space for E- Metro Logistics Park all looking for placement before the end of 2024," he added.

The first two facilities at E-Metro Logistics Park, Metrohub 1 and 2, with 1.1 million square feet and 800,000 square feet in GLA, respectively, are under construction, with the first phase slated to be finished in 4Q2023.
