KUALA LUMPUR: More details have been confirmed regarding Chery Malaysia's first electric vehicle (EV) in the market.
Invited media was given the opportunity to have a look at the new electric sports utility vehicle (e-SUV) Omoda E5 in anticipation of its eventual launch.
The company also updated the model's specifications since it was first teased over the weekend.
Based on the internal combustion engine (ICE) Omoda 5, the E5 adopts the cross styling design for its exterior, with its light and shadow-cutting streamlined body and high-tech and futuristic front face.
It houses a blade lithium iron phosphate battery with a 61kWh capacity and a power consumption of 14.5/100km.
It runs on a single flat wire three-in-one motor with two-wheel drive (2WD) setup with a delivery of 150kW or 201Hp and 340Nm torque.
The model has a 0-100kph acceleration record of 7.6 seconds.
Its vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology has a 3.3kW external discharge capability.
It has a low energy consumption of 15 kWh/100 km and a range of 430 km.
The battery can charge from 30-80 per cent in just 30 minutes through its fast charging technology.
AC charging is at 9.9 kW/h and DC is 80 kW/h. It can charge from 30-80 per cent with the latter is achievable in 30 minutes.
The EV is also equipped with a new generation Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that includes seventeen functions such as blind-spot monitoring, reverse warning, and automatic emergency braking capable of recognizing pedestrians and cyclists.
It will have at least seven exterior colours and three interior colour-matching designs for customers to choose from.
There is still no official launch date or of its price though it is anticipated to be within the RM150,000 to RM160,000 range.
