Bursa Malaysia lower at midday

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia continued to decline at midday, weighed down by the financial services and healthcare sectors, as traders awaited the US Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates.

At 12:30 p.m., the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 0.24 per cent, shedding 3.82 points to 1,604.93, compared to Friday's close of 1,608.75.

The broader market remained weak, with 625 losers outpacing 333 gainers, while 473 counters were unchanged.

Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd anticipated a more positive trading tone for Bursa Malaysia, with attention on stocks tied to the data centre supply chain, technology, and banking sectors, which are likely to benefit from the stronger US dollar environment.

"We are also optimistic about East Malaysia-related activities, supported by recovering share prices and anticipated fund inflows into the region," it said.
