KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua has officially unveiled the 2020 Bezza, bringing new styling and more kit.
The sedan was updated – according to Perodua – based on feedback and engagement with its customers.
It delivers a contemporary look, advanced safety features, fuel-efficiency, space and practicality in a great value package.
The new Bezza is offered in four variants (1.0 G MT, 1.0 G AT, 1.3 X AT and 1.3 AV AT) with a selection of 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre engine and prices ranging from RM34,580 to RM49,980.
Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said: “The 2020 Perodua Bezza is the result of our many engagements with our valued customers.
“The improvements we have made are centred around the ideas of smart design, smart drive and smart safety.”
Styling wise, the 2020 Bezza can easily be distinguished by its new LED headlights, grille, bold restyled front and rear bumpers, 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (X and AV only), as well as dual-tone side skirts.
Customers may choose the Bezza in six exterior colours, namely Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Ocean Blue, Sugar Brown, and two new colours – Granite Grey, and Garnet Red (1.3 variants only).
The revision on the exterior gives the car a wider and better stance look, especially from the front.
While the rear still looks awkward with the rather famed “high-butt” look.
Nevertheless, Perodua can only do the best to touch up the rear of what essentially is a hatchback-based sedan.
The interior is largely unchanged, but features a list of new updates.
This includes a new silver trim across the dashboard towards the centre console replacing the gloss black bar, new white-illuminated instrument gauges, keyless entry and start, front-corner sensors, and reverse camera (AV only).
The seats have new leather upholstery with red stitching and suede inserts which is pretty nice.
Another prominent addition to the facelifted Bezza is ASA 2.0 or Advanced Safety Assist, Perodua’s driver assistance and safety suite.
The ASA 2.0, previously offered on the Aruz and facelifted Axia – comprises of Pedestrian Detection (up to 50kph), Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100kph), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80kph), Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control.
The fitment of ASA 2.0 – although already expected – is a welcomed addition to the car and will especially set the Bezza apart in its segment as it is currently the only model to be fitted with such features.
Meanwhile, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control now made their way to X variant, as the duo were only available on the AV previously.
On the mechanical side, the car is powered by the familiar 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre Dual VVTi engines, making 67hp and 91Nm for the former and 94hp and 121Nm of torque for the latter.
Since its launch back in 2016, some 184,000 units of Bezza have found Malaysian homes.
Zainal said: “We are confident the bolder and smarter 2020 Perodua Bezza will continue to carry the torch – our aim is to sell RM4,000 units monthly on average.”
As of the day this report is written, it is expected that 5,600 units of the new Perodua Bezza will be delivered by the end of this month.
