#TECH: Helping graduates move into creative industry

KUALA LUMPUR: Digital platform for creative professionals, Cult Creative, will start an initiative to help underserved graduates move into the creative industry.

Called Future List 2021, the move will open up opportunities for these graduates to explore the industry, and for this, Cult Creative is partnering with leading universities for the one-day virtual event.

The event will be held on Oct 23 with networking sessions, workshops, panel discussions, and mentorships on insights and advice on embarking on the creative workforce.

Besides that, all the attendees and graduates can also expect internship and job opportunities from both local and global brands.

Cult Creative's chief executive officer and co-founder, Shermaine Wong, said the main goal of this virtual career summit is to enrich, empower and upskill go-getters and creative graduates who are transitioning from academia to industry.

"It is an initiative to expose and diversify graduates' industry knowledge as we aim to deliver different perspectives, skills, and creative insights to successful projects and build healthy and engaged creative development communities, which will enable these graduates to deliver innovative, high-quality content and resources that are useful to user communities with widely varying backgrounds," she said.

Cult Creative's chief marketing officer and co-founder, Manisha Jagan, meanwhile, said the platform is also honoured to have Taylors Design School, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), SEGi University, Raffles College of Higher Education, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARC), Multimedia University (MMU) Cyberjaya and UOW Malaysia KDU on board this year with their top graduates from creative faculties such as design, music, film and video, visual arts, fashion, and advertising.

"We encourage other universities to participate as well to enable your top graduates to experience a holistic career summit which will be beneficial to their career path providing them with the right exposure, resources, and opportunities with our list of notable speakers," she said.

The summit will be joined by the co-founders and accompanied by Ogilvy's Jaz Lee, Undi18's Roshinee Mookaiah, Media Monks' Wiriyak Suvanmani, dUCK Group's Jacky Hussein, Universal Music Malaysia's Kim Lim, Studio Behind 90's Book of Lai, Transform Cultures' Tyler Chin, Viu Malaysia Pitching Forum 2020's winner, Aina Izzah and many more.
