University of London spotlights Malaysians

THE University of London, a leading UK-based institution specialising in online and distance learning, is celebrating the achievements of its Malaysian students in a new international campaign.

Titled "Join the Worldclass", it showcases the success stories of alumni and current students from Malaysia, who are advancing their careers through University of London programmes while studying from their home country.

With a focus on real-life experiences, the campaign highlights the transformative power of high-quality higher education.

By choosing to study with the University of London, students become part of a global community of scholars comprising 40,000 individuals from 190 countries, all working towards their goals while staying in their home countries.

Among the featured students are Shobita Nagulendran and Thaddeus Gabriel (Jalleh), recent graduates who completed their University of London Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees at Brickfields Asia College in Kuala Lumpur.

Shobita, who graduated last year, said: "When I decided to study law, the University of London programme appeared to be the most ideal choice. It was not only cost-effective but also the most recognised option available.

"Studying at the university has been an enriching experience and I'm grateful for the opportunity."

Thaddeus, now a lecturer at Brickfields Asia College, said: "I would certainly recommend the University of London programme, especially at Brickfields Asia College, to my juniors and friends.

"The programme is challenging but provides (students with) invaluable critical thinking and analytical skills, which are enhanced by the lecturers at Brickfields Asia College. Overall, it prepares you well for the job market."

The university offers flexible online and distance learning models, allowing students to pursue international degrees through fully online independent study or structured learning experiences with face-to-face support. This support is provided through a network of Regional Teaching Centres.

With nearly 40 years of collaboration with partners in Malaysia, the university has established strong links with Recognised Teaching Centres across the country.

Its vice-chancellor, Wendy Thomson, said: "We are immensely proud of our students and alumni in Malaysia. Through this campaign, we aim to share their stories and celebrate their achievements, inspiring everyone interested in higher education to consider studying at the University of London.

"With our internationally recognised, flexible programmes, students can earn a UK-based university degree while staying in Malaysia."

Looking forward, the university is committed to expanding its initiatives in Malaysia, providing more opportunities for Malaysian students to access high-quality education without leaving their home country.
