A COMPILATION of motivational quotes, 99 Kata-Kata #QalifModen, by Fattah Amin won the Popular Book category at the National Book Awards 2017, much to the author’s delight.
Fattah, 26, said this unexpected win encouraged him to further hone his writing skills and publish more books in future.
“I’m delighted that despite negative feedback from certain quarters, my book has proven to be popular with readers nationwide. More than 5,000 copies have been sold.”
Due to popular demand, Fattah’s management company, Fastyle Asia, and publisher Idea Kreatif will print more copies of the book that contains quotes on lessons that Fattah has learnt as an aspiring actor.
“An English translation is in the works, and it is also a collaboration between Fastyle and Idea Kreatif. I’m confident that English-speaking fans will love it, too!” Fattah said.
His hit single Wanita Terakhir, written and composed by brothers Aizat and Anas Amdan, has been made into a novel by author Ezza Mysara.
It sold 5,000 copies at the book awards held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
“I gave her the idea for the novel. It is a love story of a young man who faces obstacles, such as family pressure, betrayal and financial hardship, while pursuing the woman he loves.
“Its sales figure looks encouraging, and if it continues to do well in the market, I would like to have it made into a television drama,” Fattah said.
He said he loved writing and hoped to pen books on motivation and self-improvement; topics close to his heart.
“If I had not become an actor, I might have become a writer or publisher. I read a lot, and my favourites are self-help books and novels with science-fiction, thriller and adventure themes.”
He also enjoys reading romantic stories.
Fattah’s next television project is romantic drama Hero Seorang Cinderella, which will premiere on Astro Ria on May 22.
It is directed by Michael Ang and stars Nur Fazura Sharifuddin.
