KUALA LUMPUR: J Revolusi action hero Zul Ariffin will appear in award-winning filmmaker Mamat Khalid’s comedy Hantu Kak Limah 3 next year – a longtime wish that has finally come true.
Zul has always admired the Perak-born director, whose comedies as Zombi Kampung Pisang, Husin, Mon Dan Jin Pakai Toncit, and Usop Wilcha Dalam Werewolf Dari Bangladesh are actually hard-hitting social satires.
"Mamat is a great storyteller whose stories are funny, yet intelligent. Actors learn a lot about life under his guidance, and thus, I’m truly honoured to appear in his latest film project,” said Zul in a recent news report.
When asked about the character he plays in the upcoming film, Zul said it would be “a lot different” from his usual roles.
“All I can say is, I’m Solihin who teaches martial arts, collects road tax and sells insurance,” he said.
"Filming will be in Taiping and Ipoh, and it’ll be wrapped up in a month’s time. My character is new to the Zombi Kampung Pisang gang, and he adds ‘spice’ to the hilarious group of village friends,” explained Zul.
Hantu Kak Limah 3 is the sequel to Mamat’s 2010 film Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah.
Co-produced by Astro Shaw and Infinitus Productions, it stars Datuk Awie, Uqasha Senrose, Erra Fazira and Delimawati, and will be screened in August next year.
