KUALA LUMPUR: Popular TV host-actress Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor has issued a statement of apology after being slammed by critics for hosting her hijab launch at a nightclub.
The 29-year-old artiste took to Instagram to express her regret in a lengthy post last night.
She wrote: “After understanding and reflecting on what has taken place after the NH (Naelofar Hijab) event on the 26th Feb 2018, I would like to sincerely apologise for causing stress and negative sentiments on the selection of the venue at which the event took place.
“I would also like to thank you all for the support given by many who have understood this situation.
She then added that she takes full responsibilty for all decisions made.
“I am far from perfect and I respect your thoughts and feedbacks. I am truly, deeply sorry.”
Shortly after, hip-hop singer songwriter and motivator Caprice lauded Neelofa for her actions.
In an Instagram post dedicated to the Suri Hati Mr. Pilot actress, Caprice said: “Proud of you @neelofa. There’s nothing wrong with showing humilty and finally apologising for things beyond your control.
“Rise to every occassion in celebration or defeat without a single loss of enthusiasm - that’s the true mark of a leader.”
Yesterday, the NH brand had issued an apology over the controversy on social media.
Meanwhile, Neelofa was a no-show at the Transformasi Nasional (TN50) programme last night at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here, where she was due to attend.
According to BH Online, she had discussed it with the organiser, and decided to back out to avoid stirring up chaos during the programme due to the controversy.
“I apologise, and I hope my decision of doing so allowed the participants of the programme to put their focus on the important messages delivered by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak,” she said.
In another update, it appeared that the controversy had caused Neelofa to lose about 100,000 followers on her Instagram resulting in a total of 5.4 million followers, compared to 5.5 million previously.
