KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Sufian Suhaimi's wish to wed actress Elfira Loy may not have materialised, but he can take some comfort in knowing that his latest single, Di Matamu, is doing extremely well.
The moving ballad was released on March 23, the date which would have been their big day.
The music video has since garnered close to four million views with over 161,000 likes and close to 14,000 comments.
Prior to its release, Di Matamu had already been trending, with fans waiting in anticipation, after a teaser for it was uploaded online.
Although the 26-year-old artiste, signed under Aries Music, had not revealed anything about the cause of his break-up with Elfira, many Netizens had seen it fit to speculate and draw parallels between the contents of the song to what had actually happened.
At the beginning of the music video, Sufian is heard saying: "Not everything that we dream of will come true. Live in truth. Reality is much more honest than longing."
In previous news reports, the Terakhir hitmaker had said that the sad song, written and composed by Sirkhan and Rinkarnaen, was completed mid last year and not after his recent split with his ex-fiancée.
The singer added that whatever connection that could be gleamed from the meaning and lyrics of the song was just pure coincidence.
Till today, many have offered words of support and encouragement for the artiste to carry on and to leave all of the heartbreak behind.
Di Matamu has also become a popular cover song amongst celebrities, such as Ernie Zakri, Daiyan Trisha and Janna Nick, and numerous amateurs alike as seen on YouTube.
Sufian and Elfira got engaged last year on Oct 6 and had set March 23 for their wedding day.
But their engagement was called off after news reports surfaced on the matter on Feb 17.
