AWARD-winning singer Ernie Zakri has said she is not siding with singer-actress Bella Astillah, the estranged wife of Singaporean singer-actor Aliff Aziz, despite inviting her to perform a duet recently.
In a recent interview with 'Berita Harian', Ernie said she has no intention of interfering in the private lives of artistes and is not on "Team Bella".
"At my recent Hari Raya event, I invited Bella to perform my latest single, 'Masing-Masing', as a duet because she once told me that she loved the song."
Ernie said while she is against 'penyondol' (marriage-wreckers), she is steering clear of the ongoing controversy involving Bella, Aliff and actress Ruhainies. Aliff and Ruhainies were caught committing 'khalwat' on March 8.
"When I met Bella that day, I wished her all the best and prayed for her wellbeing, that's all."
Ernie added that she was happy Bella had performed 'Masing-Masing' alongside fellow Sabahan singer, Adira Suhaimi.
"Coincidentally, both of them are undergoing marital problems, so this song could encourage them to overcome their difficulties and grow stronger in the process," she said.
