KUALA LUMPUR: Singer-actor Izzue Islam Mazlan welcomes feedback and criticism for his latest musical project, My City.
The song which he wrote and composed with help from his wife and manager Awin Nurin, was recorded five months ago.
It talks about 28-year-old Izzue’s home state of Kelantan, and highlights its tourist attractions, culinary delights and peculiar habits of its people.
“Not many Malaysians are familiar with Kelantanese culture, and some even think there’s a lack of entertainment in my state. Actually, there are a lot of fascinating places, foods and traditional arts there, and My City is all about them,” he said in a recent news report.
Izzue, who won Most Promising Actor at the 25th Malaysian Film Festival for 29 Februari, admitted that he was “still brushing up” his command of English and welcomed constructive feedback from music lovers.
The music video for My City was recently released on YouTube and it featured animated characters based on Izzue and some of his friends, touring as a band around Kelantan and highlighting the state’s specialties.
The singer who is also a member of pop group Forteen uploaded the video on Instagram yesterday, with the caption “10 minutes more, we will release the full music video for My City. Stay tuned guys!”
Many Netizens commended Izzue on his bold move to sing in English and his dedication to his land of birth.
“Great job Izzue,” said Mimie.
