KUALA LUMPUR: When entrepreneur-turned-singer Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman shared a video of his new single, Semalam Bobo Dimana, it didn’t take long for it to stir up quite a reaction on social media.
After spiritual programme host and former actress Wardina Safiyyah slammed him for sharing the video, few other celebrities have come forward to share their two cents, including rock legend Amy of Search.
Aliff took the clip of the news report about Wardina’s comment and explained that he was merely fulfilling his job commitment as a singer and the dance move and the video’s art direction had already been prepared by the music label from Indonesia.
His posting received more than 970 comments, most of which were not in favour of his explanation, nor of him dancing with his two other collaborators for the song – fellow cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat Kamaruzzaman and Indonesian singer Lucinta Luna.
Amy commented: "Langsung tidak menghormati diri sendiri. Tuntutan kerja? Datuk banyak duit, awak boleh tentang habis-habis sebab awak sendiri boleh nilai tetapi kerana awak mahukannya dan awak sukakannya.
"Awak mahu semua orang bercakap mengenainya. Lebih banyak orang bercakap mengenainya, ia lebih banyak memberi manfaat.”
(You don’t even have self-respect. What work commitment? You’re rich and you could say no to it if you don’t want to. But it was obvious you wanted to do it willingly. You also want people to talk about it, the more the better.)
