KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Hannah Delisha doesn’t think that her ‘berkemban’ (wearing a sarong tied at the bosom) scene in Langsuir is a cheap ploy to entice people to watch the new film.
According to the 21-year-old actress, whose full name is Hannah Adlina Blackburne Birch, the steamy scene in question is also not exploitative towards the female form since it completely suits the storyline.
“If you think about it logically, no one bathes with clothes on. Women from back then used to ‘berkemban’ as well. It’s nothing new,” she said of her bath sequence from the Osman Ali-directed film.
She added: “I am aware that the scene will most definitely get criticised by some Netizens but I am ready for it.”
“I would also like to explain that the ‘berkemban’ scene was not done just for fun. It was appropriate and tastefully carried out in line with my character taking a bath. I had also told the director not to make it too sexy,” she said after the premiere screening of the film at MM Cineplex in Petaling Jaya recently.
She added that although she viewed herself as a quite an open-minded individual, there were certain conditions that had to be fulfilled before she could agree to such scenes.
“I had requested that part of my body be covered in clothing during the ‘berkemban’ scene as well,” she said.
Aside from that, the actress also has a rape scene with actor Firdaus Nadxaman in the fantasy film.
Produced by Guam TeamWork Sdn Bhd and Nuansa Films, Langsuir, which stars Syafiq Kyle, Julia Farhana, Daaim Jailani, Shahkimin, Nazri John and Halim Radzi, opens in cinemas on Sept 20.
