KUALA LUMPUR: Singer-actress Emily Kong, who appeared in Sing! China 2018, died in a car accident last Saturday.
The 29-year-old was believed to have lost control of her car, which crashed into a tree in front of the NSK hypermarket, Jalan Kuchai Lama here at 3.20am.
In a news report last Sunday, a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they had received an emergency call around 3.30am, and a team from the Seputeh fire station was dispatched to the scene.
It is learnt that Kong suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem.
Besides participating in Sing! China, Kong also acted in the films Love Endures, My Surprise Girl and Get Hard.
In an Instagram post today, Kong’s sister who chose to remain anonymous paid a heartfelt tribute to the singer-actress.
Her message read: “Our beloved Emily Kong has left us for Heaven to be reunited with our Heavenly Father and her mum. Her contagious laughter, her cheerful personality and the rarest of all, her pure heart of gold will be something we cherish in our memories forever.
“She has a special love and passion for taking care of artistes who are in this industry, constantly giving without expecting anything in return. I’m sure the people around her could attest to her sincerity and selflessness. She is beautiful inside out.
“Let’s keep the beautiful memories in our hearts forever.”
