KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial singer Aliff Aziz and his wife Dayang Nabellah Awang Astillah were divorced at the Syariah Court today.
Aliff Aziz, who was implicated in various scandals, pronounced the divorce with a single ‘talak’ before Syarie judge Izzat Syazli Mushid at 3.45pm.
Dayang Nabellah or fondly known as Bella, who was continuously sobbing during the entire proceeding, said she filed the application two months ago.
“My husband often cheats on me,” she said when asked by the court on reasons of her application.
Bella, 25, said she has evidence of her husband’s wrongdoings in the form of pictures and videos.
Aliff did not object to the application and agreed on the reason given and pronounced the divorce in between sobs.
The court also ordered the 28-year-old Singaporean to pay RM1,000 alimony (nafkah) to Bella starting this month.
When met after the proceeding, Aliff said he was remorseful of his sins and took this as a challenge to improve himself.
“I will not make any excuses and will take the blame. I want to apologise to Bella and my family over what had happened,” he said.
Bella, clad in a black jubah said she already forgave Aliff, but believed this was the best decision for his family.
“I have to focus on our two-year-old son as he means everything to me. I hope Aliff can reflect on his sins and think about his parents,” Bella said.
Almost two years ago, Aliff was at the centre of a controversy that involved a karaoke outing with actress Afifah Nasir.
The hullaballoo took place while Bella was in confinement as she had just given birth to their son, Ayden Adrean.
Last February, Bella revealed that Aliff went out with actress Oktovia Manrose.
Recently, New Straits Times reported that the singer was once again implicated in a controversy when an intimate photo of him with a woman identified only as Nismel was making its rounds in cyberspace.
Worse, an Instagram video recording of them had gone viral, too.
