#Showbiz: Naim Daniel's ex-girlfriend claims co-ownership of 'Sumpah'

KUALA LUMPUR: Does Naim Daniel's winning hit Sumpah in Anugerah Juara Lagu 34 (AJL34), also belong to Dayana Amerda?

Dayana, 21, insists that it does, and the Idola Kecil 2009 winner has given singer-songwriter and actor Naim, 22, a week to openly admit this.

“Naim must come clean on this. We co-wrote Sumpah in 2015. I'm giving him a week to respond, before I take further action, he can also meet me personally to discuss it,” said Dayana in a news report yesterday.

Dayana, whose real name is Siti Amirah Dayana Mohd Amerullah, was accompanied by her lawyer Datuk Ahmad Zaharil Muhaiyar at a press conference in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Her mother Che Rohaida Che Daud and Konsortium Industri Rakaman Muzik Malaysia (Irama) president Ayob Abd Majid were with her.

Dayana, who starred in the 2011 comedy series Elly & Epit and married her co-star Hadi Majid last year, said that she had contacted Naim for an explanation last July, but he did not reply.

She said that she had strong evidence to back up her claim to the AJL34 Best Song.

“Netizens slammed me as a publicity-seeker, and a person out to claim royalties for the work of others. But I'm not after money, I only want an honest admission,” said Dayana.

“If he did list my name in the credits to the song, I would be getting royalties indirectly. But that is not important, what is important is acknowledging me as the co-writer.”

Che Rohaida said that Naim and her daughter were a couple when they co-wrote Sumpah in 2015.

“Sumpah had eight bars when they created it. But Naim made some changes, and made it look as if it was his song alone,” she said.

Meanwhile, Naim urged Dayana to “come forward” with proof that she co-wrote Sumpah.

“My management, WP Entertainment and I are willing to meet her. We will be coming up with a statement soon,” said Naim.

AJL34 was held at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil here on Feb 9. Sumpah earned Naim the top prize of RM50,000.
