AMPANG JAYA: A man was arrested yesterday for trespassing, vandalising his ex-girlfriend's family home in Taman Melawati, and threatening her after she ended their relationship.
The incident occurred when the 31-year-old suspect became enraged after the 24-year-old woman decided to break off their relationship of three months.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the incident took place at 1.30pm on Sept 18, while the victim was in her room and heard stones being thrown at her bedroom window.
Upon investigating, she saw her ex-boyfriend inside the house compound.
"The suspect then used a dumbbell to smash the glass door at the back of the house while shouting the woman's name.
"The victim fled to her room and called the authorities. Meanwhile, the suspect attempted to break down her room door by kicking it and hitting it with the dumbbell," he said in a statement today.
When he failed to break down the door, the suspect entered through the balcony and smashed the bedroom window, threatening the victim before leaving the scene.
The damage to the victim's father's house is estimated to be around RM20,000.
Investigations revealed that the incident was triggered by the victim's decision to end the relationship after dating for almost three months.
Following the incident, police arrested the suspect at 5.50pm yesterday in Petaling Jaya.
A background check showed that he had 13 prior criminal records.
The suspect has been remanded for four days, beginning today, to assist in investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, Section 448 of the Penal Code for trespassing, and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
