KUALA LUMPUR: Singer, motivational speaker and chef Datuk Fazley Yaakob recently spent 31 days under self-quarantine following his return from an event in Singapore.
Relieved to have been finally reunited with his loved ones, Fazley said in a news report yesterday that it was one of his longest periods away from them.
"I was quarantined in Singapore for 14 days, and in Kuala Lumpur for another 17 days. It was a very long period, one of my longest away from family, but I had to do it because I want all of them to be safe," Fazley said.
"Throughout that period of isolation, I thought only about my children, and I really missed them. That's why I felt so relieved when I arrived at my doorstep," he said.
Fazley drove a rented car all the way from Tuas in Singapore to the federal capital.
"I had to rent a vehicle from Tuas. My flight home was postponed thrice and bus tickets were sold out.
"Along the journey, the highway was almost empty. The rest areas were closed too.
"All of this looked like a pandemic film, but it was real. Likewise the road blocks I had to face when I was back in KL," said Fazley.
Fazley was in Singapore as part of the culinary programme Cake Champion's second season. He was the show's chief judge.
