KUALA LUMPUR: Singer-actor Gadaffi Ismail Sabri or Dafi admitted that he was his father's occasional "hotline" when it came to obtaining information on Covid-19 cases.
The 32-year-old Akademi Fantasia 5 graduate said that he had been receiving a lot of information on the Covid-19 situation, especially in the Klang Valley, and forwarded it to his father, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob from time to time.
"Since the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19 was enforced last March, I have been receiving lots of information from the public about the situations in various parts of the country via social media.
"Many people are still sending direct messages to me via Instagram, and asking questions about the government's latest initiatives. They also shared videos which show what is happening in their respective neighbourhoods.
"As a Malaysian citizen, I have to be concerned and well-informed about the pandemic. It is our duty to fight Covid-19 and make the country safe," said Dafi in a news report yesterday.
Dafi urged fellow Malaysians not to be complacent, as despite the gradual relaxation of the MCO's strict rules, Covid-19 cases could surge again if they did not observe Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) announced by the government.
"I hope everybody sticks to the SOP which is meant to keep us safe. The battle against Covid-19 is not over yet, so we must always protect ourselves."
Dafi advised Malaysians who were sick to stay at home or self-quarantine, since they could be vulnerable to Covid-19.
"We are now in the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) stage, but we must still be extra careful in public."
