#Showbiz: Awie keeps baby's gender under wraps

KUALA LUMPUR: Rock legend Datuk Ahmad Azhar Othman a.k.a. Awie prefers not to reveal the gender of his soon-to-arrive new family member just yet.

"My wife is due some time in the middle of next month, so we'll announce when the baby is safely delivered. As for now, let us just keep this information a secret.

"It's not that I don't want to share it with my fans and followers, but let's wait until the baby is born," said Awie who wanted to avoid an embarrassing situation if the baby's gender turned out to be different than what he had announced.

At the same time, Awie also said that he had been trying to keep his health and stamina in check by watching his diet, seeing that he would welcome this new family member at the age of 52.

Awie married Datin Sharifah Ladyana Syed Samsuddin, 33, in 2016. He has five other children from his two previous marriages.

"When I take this youngest child to school, I don't want people to confuse me for being the child's grandfather," joked Awie when he met reporters at the press conference of the film 10 Tips Tipu Bini, held at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, Malaysian Tourism Centre (Matic) at Jalan Ampang, here yesterday.

The film is the debut work produced by his own production house Rumah Produksi Merah. It is set to premier on Astro First on Jan 7, 2021.
