#Showbiz: Malaysian artistes support Palestinians with #ShameOnIsrael

KUALA LUMPUR: Hari Raya Aidilfitri is less than 24 hours away, but do spare a thought for fellow Muslims in Palestine, who cannot celebrate it in peace.

This is Malaysian artistes' appeal to fans on the eve of Aidilfitri. They have urged fellow Malaysians to spare a thought for the suffering Palestinians who are facing Israeli military aggression yet again.

The artistes who include Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, Heliza Helmi, Puteri Aishah, Siti Sarah Raissuddin, Nora Danish, Azwan Kombos, Amira Othman, Indah Ruhaila, Dina Nadzir, Salma Asis, Neelofa, Liza Hanim, Wany Hasrita, Fara Fauzana, Misha Omar, Datin Seri Umie Aida, Sherry Ibrahim, Zulin Aziz, Sherry Alhadad, and Datuk Rosyam Nor have uploaded the hashtag #ShameOnIsrael on their respective Instagram accounts as a mark of solidarity with the Palestinians.

And in their messages of solidarity, they have called on Netizens, especially Muslims, to pray for the safety and well-being of the Palestinians.

"Dear God, protect our brothers and sisters in Palestine from Zionist terrorism. We can't bear to see them suffering, we are very angry with the Israeli army which has terrorised the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque and killed children," said Siti Sarah.

Nora said: "Our brothers and sisters in Palestine need our support this Aidilfitri. Give them our love and solidarity, show them that they are not alone."

Yesterday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the international community could not remain silent to the atrocities committed by Israel on the Palestinians.

"Malaysia demands Israel ceases its aggression against Palestinians in the Occupied Territories, including Gaza Strip.

"The excessive use of force by Israel against the Palestinian people, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, is unjustifiable and Israel must be held accountable for it," he said.

Israel recently launched rocket attacks and airstrikes against Palestinians in Gaza, and at least 24 Palestinians including children were killed.

Resistance movement Hamas demanded that Israel stand down its security forces from the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem.
