KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor and comedian Zizan Razak has been stressing out over 24 family members and relatives that have tested positive for the coronavirus recently.
The 37-year-old artiste was extremely worried since a couple of relatives from his hometown in Dungun, Terengganu had succumbed to the deadly virus.
"Covid-19 is really a very serious matter. What's worrying is that my aunt and four cousins that I'm close to have also been confirmed to be Covid-19 positive.
"Even scarier is that my aunt's father-in-law and maid had died in a blink of an eye after getting infected.
"My mother, Anai Ibrahim, and I live in Kuala Lumpur and we're horrified to even leave the house. So many stories, experiences and examples of Covid-19 positive family members have raised our awareness to be vigilant and adhere strictly to the SOP in order to avoid getting infected," he said in a news report yesterday.
The Abang Long Fadil and Polis Evo star said that although he initially went out to work, he has since chosen to stay home.
"Honestly, I am not brave enough to go out to work with the amount of daily positive cases exceeding 20,000 now.
"I can apply for a letter from the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) to allow me to travel out for work but I have to think of the safety of my mother who is living with me.
"Moreover, my worries are multiplied by my direct experience of having relatives infected by Covid-19. It really makes me want to avoid going out," he said.
Zizan added that the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic had seen him not getting any solid work for almost three months now.
"I believe that all artistes and arts practitioners have been hard hit by the pandemic. A lot of filming work has been postponed or halted.
"I'm not doing any creative work at the moment. Only a few businesses are still running.
"That said, I accept this as fate and can only pray for the pandemic to go away as soon as possible. For me, this is a very bitter moment in life as the cases are also increasing.
"We can all see one by one people falling victims to the pandemic, including good friends like the late Siti Sarah Raissuddin who drew her last breath on Monday," he said.
