KUALA LUMPUR: A 10-minute short film project about a karate squad that took part in the World first World Deaf Karate Championships was entirely shot with a smartphone.
Producer Ong Peng Chu of Hundred Years Popcorn Sdn Bhd said that his team had gone through a set of challenges to film the shortie as they were shooting it using Vivo X70 Pro smartphone.
"We initially wrapped up filming in four days, but had to re-shoot after we found out that the quality of the footages did not come up to our expectations.
"We had never attempted filming anything professionally using smartphones and only realised our errors much later," Ong said in a news report today.
The team later ironed out the problems and took another three days to film it, using a new set of actors as the earlier cast had other commitments.
The 10-minute film tells the story of a determined 19-year-old athlete Siti Nor Insyirah Adawiah who, together with seven other of her teammates from Skudai, Johor, took part in the first World Deaf Karate Championships held in Tehran, Iran last November.
Despite being the only female in the championship, she took home a bronze medal.
The shortie is part of Vivo annual programme.
Directed by Mallory Lee, Shout It Out can be viewed on Vivo Malaysia YouTube channel.
