KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actress Janna Nick is determined to "get back in shape" with lots of exercise, and has slammed body-shamers on social media.
The 26-year-old recently spoke about the derogatory comments made against her by such individuals in a short Instagram video.
The star of Leftenan Zana said that many Netizens had called her "fat" and rudely remarked that her thighs were "too big".
"Some of these remarks really hurt to the point that I felt like undergoing surgery to lose weight," said Janna in the video.
"But I've overcome that and I will prove that I can get fit. Now I don't care if they continue to hurt my feelings so long as they don't hurt anyone else's feelings."
Janna added: "I hope all of you who watch this video, please stop body-shaming others. It's just not cool.
"Don't put others down to lift yourself up. Never!"
The video has to date received more than 500,000 views, 30,000 likes and 1,000 comments.
Netizens, including some of Janna's celebrity friends, lauded her for calling out body-shamers.
"Well said Janna! Do whatever makes you happy as long as you are healthy inside and out," said actress and singer Adeline Tsen.
"You look great Janna. Pay no heed to those toxic folk out there!" said Suhana.
