KUALA LUMPUR: Comedian Shahrol Azizie Azmi of Shiro fame has gone on to more "serious work" as a Kluang Municipal Councillor.
The recently-appointed councillor has promised Kluang folk to end a longstanding problem which they have been facing — the persistent presence of wild elephants around Taman Sri Impian.
"These elephants have 'invaded' the area for a long time. At first they only disturbed farms around the housing estate, but now they have even entered the residential areas," said Shahrol, 38, in a news report yesterday.
"This is dangerous, a slight provocation from any person can lead to the elephants going on a rampage, destroying property and even injuring people."
Shahrol added that he would do his best to serve Kluang residents, during his year-long stint as councillor, from Aug 1 to Dec 31 next year.
The comedian, who is also Kluang's Umno Youth assistant treasurer, is also the director of television production company Bushido Production.
Shahrol, who hails from Kluang, first found fame in 2012 when his troupe Shiro won comedy reality show Raja Lawak's sixth season.
He has recorded two songs with Shiro namely Zapin K-Pop in 2013 and Oh My Budget in 2015, and starred in four films including Berani Punya Budak and Sepah The Movie, as well as seven television dramas.
