KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Emma Maembong's elder sister Shikin has been coping with Bell's Palsy for 12 years now.
This condition occasionally renders the social media influencer's face "out of shape" but she is bearing with it and looking for the best treatment.
"I have tried acupuncture, traditional massage and physiotherapy to date. They have alleviated things, though I still have a long way to go," said Shikin, 40, in a recent Instagram post.
Shikin admitted that the condition caused certain individuals to poke fun at her in the past but she has learnt to ignore them.
"I won't give up finding a cure for my condition. I believe that God will show me the way, so long as I keep trying and remain resilient."
Netizens saluted Shikin for her honest, courageous and positive attitude in dealing with Bell's Palsy.
"When there is a will there is a way. I am confident that you will be cured someday Shikin," said Nurul.
"You're my hero Shikin. You're brave in the face of this disease and determined to beat it. I salute you," said Diana.
