KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and television host Awal Ashaari has just opened his very own coffee house in Section 13, Shah Alam.
His new business The Great Coffee Club or TGCC is specially to celebrate his love of coffee and to commemorate his early days dating his wife of 11 years, actress and television host Scha Alyahya.
"Scha and I co-own TGCC and we both love all types of coffee. In fact it was at coffee houses like this that we met and dated prior to our marriage. Hanging out in coffee houses and enjoying the aroma and taste of great coffee made our love story a reality," said Awal in a recent interview.
Awal, 42, and Scha, 40, always visit coffee houses whenever they travel overseas. TGCC is their lifelong dream and they spent a year setting up their new business.
Awal plans to create his very own podcast at TGCC titled The Great Coffee Talk.
"If all goes well it will start after Hari Raya on YouTube and other social media. I will be interviewing one personality each week and he or she will share his or her success story with netizens."
Awal said that he and Scha chose Shah Alam for their coffee house as it had many universities and colleges, and students enjoyed hanging out and doing their coursework in coffee houses.
"There aren't many coffee houses in Selangor's capital city, so here's the chance for students to chill out in TGCC."
