FORMER ʻAkademi Fantasia 3ʼ champion Asmawi Ani or Mawi, 42, has never had his wife of 16 years, Ekin Rahmat, check his handphone for possible marriage-wreckers.
In an interview with a news portal recently, the 'Munafik 2' and 'Tiada Tajuk' actor, who is also a radio announcer on Zayan FM, said he and Ekin, 45, trust each other, and that is the key to their happy marriage.
"We don't keep secrets from each other, our marriage is rock solid because it is entirely based on trust," said Mawi, the father of 12-year-old Cahaya Malaika.
Ekin, whose full name is Nora'Asikin, said she has never looked at Mawi's handphone ever since their marriage, as she always believes in him.
"Transparency is our policy. I firmly believe that nobody can keep secrets forever," she said.
Mawi and Ekin were married on Dec 28, 2008. Her uncle is his manager.
"Mawi does not drive, so everywhere he goes, my uncle is with him," Ekin said, adding that she has no problems with Mawi singing duets with female artistes.
