AFTER the success of the 'Mega Zikir Terapi' concert last year, Niyat Group continues its concept of entertainment with a spiritual facet by staging the 'Mega Zikir Terapi 4 Palestine: Harmony For Humanity' event at Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya in Kuala Lumpur.
Its organiser and director, Dr Fitri Haris, said the upcoming concert, taking place tomorrow, was crowdfunded and 100 per cent of the ticket sales would be channelled to help the Palestinians through non-governmental organisation Cinta Gaza Malaysia.
"This concert is a continuation of the first concert that took place in Zepp KL last September.
"Praise be to God, it was a sold-out show. Following that encouraging experience, we continue with the branding on this one but the difference is that it will be specific to Palestine.
Cinta Gaza Malaysia has also tirelessly supported us, so we thought of highlighting the Palestinian issue in this concert.
"Why not just do a crowdfunded show where all proceeds from ticket sales would go straight to our Muslim brethren in Gaza?
"God willing, we are targeting a collection of RM1 million for the Palestinian development and emergency fund," he said.
The concert is also organised with the non-governmental organisation, which was pioneered by Nadir Al-Nuri, in an ongoing effort to rebuild Gaza.
Fitri said another aim of the show was to change the public's perception of negative social issues associated with concerts.
"Just mention a concert and people always associate it with bad things. But if it is done the right way, there would be many positive benefits for everyone to enjoy.
"This is a good opportunity for people to turn up in large numbers, buy tickets and experience spiritual fulfilment while donating, as a sign of solidarity for our Muslim brothers in Palestine," he said.
The show is expected to feature a total of 15 tracks, comprising seven zikir tunes and eight songs, led by the popular nasyid ensemble, UNIC.
The various artistes and personalities who will be part of the show were brought in by NGOs and record companies for free.
Among them were Pertubuhan Peduli Insan Malaysia that brought in UNIC, Inteam and Ustazah Farhatul Fairuzah, as well as Syria Care that brought in Furgan Fawwaz, Khai Bahar and Ikhwan Fatanna.
The first 'Mega Zikir Terapi' concert held last year featured more than 15 artistes and groups, including Lan Solo, Zehra Zambri, Anig Muhai, Hafiz Hamidun, Fedtri Yahya, Ustaz Tarmizi, Ustazah Sofizah, Rabithah, One Path and Mawi, as well as Fitri, Ikhwan Fatanna and UNIC.
It was organised to provide a more positive angle to music, which also contains lyrics that encourage good values.
In addition to the zikir, which is a form of chanting in remembrance of God, the show was also a way to promote peace, calmness and spiritual awakening.
The music contained elements of nasyid and was a mix of traditional music, modern and fusion as well.
